August ’09 Bali Honeymoon Trip – Uluwatu, Dreamland & Jimbaran dinner

Plan for today is Uluwatu followed by Dreamland and ended with a nice dinner at Jimbaran. Now... lets talk about Uluwatu... how I describe it : HOT!!! Really really HOT, for the weather I mean, even after putting on a 30 SPF all over my face and arms I still got tanned, though thankfully this time is not as bad as the one that I had in Bangkok  J

The view is beautiful, Uluwatu could be said as the most southern part of Bali island, as most of part of Bali for sure there would be pura as well. But what made this trip worthwile is that the Pura is on a very high cliff (75 meters), with the view of Indian Ocean. I just can’t help myself taking lots of pictures there. Oh... and there is a trail we can follow, even very easy for us non sport active like me to take. At the end of the trail there is this quite big platou where we can take pictures of Uluwatu but with a quite different surrounding. And for those who hadn’t prepared themselves with a bottle of mineral water there is a little shop selling it and other stuffs.

Now... is the time for warning, take care of your belonging. The monkeys there are ridiculously smart, efficient and organized as they work in team for their crime, I even think they were trained. While we were there, we saw 3 victims of their crime, a tourist lady whose sunglasses were taken while she was wearing it on top of her head, our friend’s hat (these 2 events happened in front of our own eyes in just around 2 minutes) and a little boy’s flip flop sandal. The lady’s sunglasses and our friends hat came back to them as there were kids around there who threw a tomato inside a closed plastic bag, then the monkey would let go of the stuffs they stole for the fruit. Then we would certainly give the kid pocket money for their good gesture of saving our belongings, hey... tomatoes are not free right?

But the boy whose flip flop sandal were taken, his fate was not as good as the earlier, since there were no boys with the tomatoes in plastic around, the big monkey was furious as he bit and broke it in pieces, the boy just sadly cried in his mother’s arms.

Dreamland beach is on the way back home to the hotel and decided to make a stop, we even past GWK (Garuda Wisnu Kencana) as well but decided not to visit there as we went there before and heard that there were no real difference than our last visit, but if you haven’t been there I recommend you make a stop there first, it’s quite worth while with the huge ongoing statue and the surrounding area.

This is our first visit to Dreamland beach, to reach it we must past a huge real estate, as this beach is part of them, there is no admittance fee, we just have to pay the parking fee for IDR 15,000.
There were not really much to see, it’s just another surrounding for a beach with walls of stones as our background, but taking pictures there is recommended, I was even surprised with how well the pictures turned out there.

I had been curious with jimbaran seafood dinner, and it’s in my list for our things to do for our honeymoon in Bali. We decided to take a package meal for each person, so we can taste each food, there are 2 types of package, with or without lobster. Personally I think the taste is just ok, but having it lit by the candle on our table with sand below our feet, and serenaded with live music coming to each our table with our own request of song really brings up the mood for us honeymooners. Oh... don’t forget to tip the band please J
